crying thinking about dave lister again because yeah he has 3 friends and yeah he's had fun times and adventures in deep space, but he's cursed to age and die on a ship he shouldn't have been on in the first place.

and yeah his life has meaning and purpose being the last human being n all that, but that is so uncharacteristically lofty. all he had ever truly wanted for his life was so simple. and he'll never have it. because of one fuckup when he was 23.

and maybe maybe one day he'll find a way back to earth. but by now? all these years later? he's changed. he's old. maybe by then he has white hair and a silver arm. the exact timeline and dimension doesn't matter because the fact is the ships he would've wanted to be on? they set sail a long time ago and left him behind.
